Daily writing prompt
Do you remember your favorite book from childhood?

We collectively remember about six different books — none of which we can fully agree on.

One of us swears it was a picture book about a lost dog that somehow made them cry every single time.
Another insists it was a science encyclopedia with a broken spine and pages stuck together from orange juice.
Someone else still talks about that weird fantasy novel where the trees could talk — even though none of us can remember the title, and we’re starting to think they imagined it.

There were comic books, school library books, books we borrowed and never returned, and that one dusty Choose Your Own Adventure that always led to the same dumb ending no matter what we picked.

But more than any single title, we remember the feeling.
The smell of old paper.
The thrill of reading under the covers with a flashlight.
The way a story could make the world feel bigger — or make us feel less alone in it.

So, was there a favorite book?
Maybe.
But mostly, we just remember falling in love with the idea that someone, somewhere, wrote something — and it stuck.
